By John HeftiAssociated PressJanuary 12, 2018 12:02pmET Steelers linebacker J.P. Quinn says the league should have the number of his jersey number.
Quinn, the team’s top linebacker in 2017, is one of five active players with a jersey number not yet announced by the league.
“I’m going to tell you right now that I’m going, you know, I’m a member of the Steelers, I have a number, it’s going to be on my jersey,” Quinn said.
“So I’m not going to lie and say I’m excited for it.
I’m sure that everyone is excited about it, and it’s just part of the process.
We’re just going to work on it as best as we can.
It’s not like I don’t have a lot of other options, it just hasn’t been announced.”
Quinn was a third-round pick in 2016, but the Steelers chose him in the first round after he recorded 20 tackles, including two sacks, two passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
Quin is expected to be active for the next few weeks, and he’s not expected to miss any time while the Steelers prepare for a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Steelers and the Steelers Network are holding an open practice at Heinz Field on Wednesday.
